Das Virtual Connect Fiber Ethernet-Modul gehört zu einer neuen Klasse von Blade-Verbindungsgeräten, die Serververbindungen durch klare Trennung des Servergehäuses vom LAN erleichtert, Netzwerke durch Reduzierung der Kabel vereinfacht, ohne zu verwaltende Switches hinzuzufügen und das Ändern von Servern in Minuten ermöglicht. Das auf Standards basierende Virtual Connect Ethernet-Modul erscheint im Netzwerk als Pass-Through-Gerät und bietet dabei alle entscheidenden Vorteile von integriertem Switching, z. B. hochleistungsfähige 1 G und 10 G Fiber Optic-Uplinks zum Rechenzentrums-Switch, Anschlussaggregation, Failover, VLAN-Tagging und Stacking. Das Virtual Connect Fiber Ethernet-Modul verwaltet Serverprofile, die vordefiniert und an beliebiger Stelle in einer Virtual Connect-Domäne implementiert werden können. Dadurch können Server schnell und einfach in Betrieb genommen werden, ohne dass Netzwerkadministratoren sich damit befassen müssen.
