Der Universal Edge-Router der MX5 3D-Serie ist eine vielseitige Plattform für kleinere Umgebungen mit Platz- und Energieproblemen für Unternehmens- und Service-Provider-Netzwerke gleichermaßen, die alle Funktionen und Möglichkeiten der MX-Serie mit einem kompakten Formfaktor benötigen. Dieser kostengünstige Router unterstützt einen MIC-Slot.
MX5 basiert auf dem Trio-Chipsatz und dem Betriebssystem Junos, dem hochleistungsfähigen Netzwerkbetriebssystem für Routing- und Switching-Anforderungen von Juniper. Der Router nimmt eine Höhe von lediglich zwei Rackeinheiten ein. Er ist so konzipiert, dass er es Kunden erleichtert, ihre TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) zu senken und Effizienzen im Betrieb zu steigern - ohne Kompromiss, sowohl in Unternehmens- als auch in Service-Provider-Bereitstellungen.
