Die Cisco 7200 VXR Router übernehmen eine integrierte Multiservice Interchange (MIX) Fähigkeit zur zukünftigen Voice-Applikationen zu unterstützen. MIX Verflechtungen auf der Midplane bieten die Möglichkeit, Schalter DS-0 Zeitschlitze zwischen Mehrkanal-T1-oder E1-Schnittstellen, so wie eine digitale Cross-Connect oder ein Add-Drop-Multiplexer. Diese Funktion ermöglicht die Cisco 7200 VXR Router DS-Schalter-0 Sprachkanäle auf einem T1-oder E1-Schnittstelle von einem Sprach-Verarbeitungs-Port-Adapter in einen anderen Sprach-Verarbeitungs-Port-Adapter. Es ermöglicht auch DS-0s durch die Cisco 7200 VXR Router ohne Verarbeitung, eine Anforderung in bestimmten Konfigurationen Stimme eingeschaltet sein.\nDie Cisco 7200 Serie bietet die Wahl zwischen zwei Chassis für den flexiblen Einsatz: Cisco 7204VXR mit vier horizontalen Port-Adapter-Steckplätze, und das Cisco 7206VXR mit 6-Port-Adapter horizontalen Slots.
