Alle Switches der N Serie umfassen Dell EMC Networking OS 6 (auf Englisch), das für einfachere Bereitstellung, größere Kompatibilität und eine flachere Lernkurve für Netzwerkadministratoren entwickelt wurde. Die Serie der N1100 Switches erleichtert die Bereitstellung, Konfiguration und Verwaltung. Zusätzlich unterstützen sie Open Network Install Environment (ONIE) und ermöglichen die Installation alternativer Netzwerkbetriebssysteme, da sie folgendes bieten:

- Höhere Netzwerkflexibilität dank optimaler Geräteintegration mit aktuellen auf offenen Standards basierenden Protokollen
- Nutzung einer einzelnen herkömmlichen Befehlsschnittstelle (Command Line Interface, CLI) und grafischen Benutzeroberfläche (Graphical User Interface, GUI), die eine vertraute Befehlssprache verwenden
- Höhere Kompatibilität durch Schnittstellen zu Cisco Rapid Per VLAN Spanning Tree (RPVST+) und zu Geräten mit Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP)
- Geschlossenes kabelgebundenes oder Wireless-Netzwerk dank Integration in branchenführende Verwaltungstools
