Der Cisco MDS 9222i Multiservice Modular Fabric Switch stellt flexible, leistungsstarke SAN-Lösungen (Storage Area Network) auf Abteilungs- oder Zweigstellenebene bereit, die sonst häufig nur in Switches der Director-Klasse zu finden sind. Diese Komplettlösung verfügt in der Basiseinheit über (18) Fibre-Channel-Anschlüsse mit 4 Gbit/s und (4) 1-Gbit/s-Anschlüsse für Ethernet-IP-Speicherservices. Außerdem ist ein freier Moduleinschub enthalten, der eine Erweiterung auf bis zu (66) Fibre-Channel-Anschlüsse über ein optionales 4-Gbit/s-Modul mit 48 Anschlüssen ermöglicht. Dabei gestattet es die mit den HP SN8000C und SN8500C Multilayer Directors konsistente Architektur, Module zwischen diesen Switches auszutauschen. Der MDS 9222i ist abwärtskompatibel und zukunftsorientiert und sorgt somit für hervorragenden Investitionsschutz. Die Integration der Fibre-Channel-Technologie mit 2, 4 und 10 Gbit/s und der IP-Speicherservices für iSCSI und FC over IP sowie weiterer intelligenter Fabric-Anwendungsservices in ein einziges System ermöglicht maximale Flexibilität für Benutzerkonfigurationen.

Vielseitig und flexibel
\n Als einziger Fabric-Switch seines Typs ist der MDS 9222i nicht nur ein Fibre Channel-Switch. Er ist ein Alleskönner in Sachen virtuelle Speichernetzwerke. Gleichzeitig handelt es sich um einen iSCSI-Router, einen FC-zu-IP-Gateway für die SAN-Erweiterung, einen Verschlüsselungs-Switch und einen Host für intelligente Netzwerkanwendungen alles in einem Paket.
