HPE Aruba Campus Core and Data Center Switch Series
Show allWhich Aruba model series have proven themselves in practice
At first glance, the HPE Aruba portfolio appears extensive, but in day-to-day business, the same series tend to appear again and again in medium-sized networks. The reason is less about marketing and more about operational reality: stable firmware, predictable lifecycles, and models that can be administered without unnecessary complexity.
Aruba 2930F and 2530: The classic access layer for medium-sized businesses
The Aruba 2930F series is one of the most widely used access switches in medium-sized business networks. Typical models such as the JL256A are commonly found in floor distributors, school networks, administrative buildings, or classic office installations with VoIP telephony and access points.
In practice, variants with 24 or 48 Gigabit ports and PoE+ are used most often. The four SFP+ uplinks are still more than sufficient for many SMB networks, as long as no larger virtualization or storage environments need to be connected. The older Aruba 2530 series, on the other hand, is now mainly used where simple Layer 2 structures are sufficient and cost is the key factor. Typical scenarios include smaller branch offices, printer networks, or office networks without dynamic routing. For new projects, however, this series is being planned less frequently, as Aruba is clearly focusing further development on the CX platform.
Aruba CX 6100 and CX 6300: The current Aruba generation
Anyone planning a new network today will usually choose Aruba CX directly. The main reason for this is not purely hardware performance, but HPE Aruba’s long-term software strategy. In everyday use, combinations of CX 6100 switches in the access layer and CX 6300 switches as aggregation or core switches are common. In many Aruba environments, the CX 6300M is considered the direct successor to the 2930F, as it allows existing concepts to be modernized without having to completely redesign the network architecture.
Aruba Instant On 1930: A sensible choice when no traditional network administration is available
The Instant On 1930 series is designed for smaller sites: simple cloud management, good pricing, and sufficient functionality for offices with up to around 50 users. When IT staff are limited, this is often the better option than a 2930F with a more complex CLI.
Core and data center: Why the 5400R is still running — and why CX is often planned anyway
In the core, we still see 5400R chassis with zl2 modules, especially in established medium-sized business networks. For new projects, however, the trend is clearly moving toward the CX 8325 or CX 8360 — more compact, more energy-efficient, and with better 25/100G connectivity.
Buying used Aruba switches: A worthwhile investment
The IT-Planet product range is characterized above all by its large selection of refurbished products. We can provide these to you at a reduced purchase price. At the same time, you still receive a high-quality device with unchanged performance.
This is possible, among other things, because Aruba switches are built to a high standard from the outset. After professional refurbishment, they therefore continue to offer a long service life.
Another advantage of choosing a used switch is sustainability. Refurbishment helps save waste, CO2, and raw materials.
We offer refurbished switches from Aruba and other manufacturers out of conviction. These are the key benefits we see in refurbishment:
- Reduced acquisition costs
- Fast delivery
- Large selection
- Positive impact on sustainability
- Warranty also available for used switches
