Cisco ASR 1000

The Cisco ASR 1000 series is an aggregation services router designed for interconnecting large networks. The Cisco Aggregation Services Routers 1000 are based on a modular concept. The family includes basic housings in different sizes. These have different features, so that a number of options are available when choosing the Cisco Aggregation Services Router 1000. The Cisco ASR 1001 as well as all other models of the series have the Cisco IOS XE software.

The two models ASR 1001-X and ASR 1002-X are compact aggregation services routers that come directly with all the required functions. In addition, there are larger basic housings that enable a modular construction of the Ethernet port adapters with plug-in units. The Cisco ASR 1002, for example, has such a slot; other ASRs in the family have up to 12 Ethernet port adapters and 24 shared port adapters. Thus, the Cisco Aggregation Services Routers 1000 provide data bandwidths between 2.5 and 200 Gbps. Up to 16,000 tunneled connections can be established.
