Cisco ASR 900

The Cisco ASR 900 is a family of aggregation services routers used by service providers and large networks. The Cisco Aggregation Services Routers 900 combine functions of routers and switches. They enable point-to-point connections with very high data bandwidths. In this way, the ASRs enable software-defined WANs to be set up between several points in the network infrastructure.

The Cisco Aggregation Services Routers 900 have a modular design in their own housing. The construction height varies with the different models. For example, the Cisco ASR 903 has an overall height of 3U. The ASR of the type Cisco ASR 902 has a height of 2U. Two interface modules can be used per height unit. These are available in different versions for network speeds from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps. Modules like the Cisco ASR 920 then offer 24 network connections for speeds of 1000/10000 Mbps. There are modules for copper connections and also for fibre optic lines. In addition, a unit for the Route Switch Processor (RSP) as well as power supply modules are housed in the Cisco Aggregation Services Routers 900.
