Cisco 1 Gigabit Transceiver

The Cisco 1 Gigabit transceivers are modules that are compatible with switches and routers from the manufacturer. They are available in different versions for the network technology from Cisco, which has a modular structure. These Cisco 1 Gigabit transceivers are also available in different versions for combination with fibre optic cables and classic copper cables.

The transceivers with RJ-45 port are designed for the use of Cat 5e or 6A cables. Furthermore, there are SFP modules with LC connectors for optical connections. These are realised with SMF (single-mode fibre) and MMF (multi-mode fibre) cables and CWDM is possible. In this way, connections between two switches over distances of up to 80 kilometres can be realised within a network.

The Cisco 1 Gigabit transceivers are hot-pluggable, i.e. they can be replaced during operation without rebooting the switch. In addition, the modules support Auto MDI/MDIX, so that the switch automatically recognises which type of connection is involved. This enables the use of cross and twisted pair cables.
