Cisco 100 Gigabit Transceiver

The Cisco 100 Gigabit transceivers are pluggable modules that are available for numerous series of switches. The transceivers are compatible with the modular systems from Cisco and serve there as an uplink. Thus, the Cisco 100 Gigabit transceivers are used for the connection between two switches and enable the construction of the network infrastructure.

The Cisco 100 Gigabit transceivers are available in several different designs. These include QSFP (Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable), CPAK and CFP2 (Cisco C Form-Factor Pluggable 2). Accordingly, different cables can also be used for data transmission. These options include fibre optic cables such as single or dual LC and SC cables. In terms of cable types, the use of SMF (single-mode fibre) or also MMF (multi-mode fibre) is possible. This allows the bandwidth to be divided into 2x50 or 4x25 gigabits, depending on the transceivers and cables used. The range is also influenced by the configuration and the cables. It can be up to 80 kilometres.

These Cisco 100 Gigabit transceivers also support hot-swapping. This means that the transceivers can be replaced while the switch is in operation. With these features, the Cisco 100 Gigabit transceivers provide a high degree of flexibility when it comes to setting up the network infrastructure.
