Cisco Wireless Controller 9800

The Cisco Wireless Controller 9800 is designed for the management of wireless networks. This series is designed for very large networks and cloud environments. Up to 6,000 access points and 64,000 clients can be managed with one controller. In addition, groups can be formed via Cisco FlexConnect, each consisting of up to 100 access points. The Cisco Wireless Controller 9800 is compatible with access points from the Cisco Aironet series.

The wireless controllers have eight or six 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two ports for SFP+ or SFP modules. 10, 40 and 100 Gigabit QSFP transceivers can be used. All these SFP modules are hot-swappable. The Cisco WLC 9800 thus supports a maximum data throughput of 40 or 80 Gbit/s, depending on the model and configuration.

With a height of 2U, the Cisco WLC 9800 can be integrated directly into the network infrastructure. Cisco IOS® XE is used as the operating system and access is possible via the Cisco DNA Center, among other things.
